They have just cast a Bosley and if you remember the original seen to be sexing it up a bit. Here he is Ramon Rodrigues, MMM a vast improvement on David Doyle in the looks department but can he act. Actually not a priority, after all it is Charlies Angels...anyone remmeber Cheryl Teigs?

Lastest Meryl Streep

Interesting casting. Meryl Streep is playing Margaret Thatcher in a biopic. Directed by Phylida Law who directed Mamma Mia and costarring Jim  Broadbent its certainly a prety good cast. But apparently the english are not happy. They would prefer that an english actress such as Judi Dench or Helen Mirren played the role. Come on people its Meryl! Above is the pic of Meryl as Maggie.

WANKER

A former MP wants the Government's income splitting tax credits legislation restricted to heterosexual married couples only.
Kiwi Party spokesman Gordon Copeland's had his say on legislation currently before select committee hearings that would allow couples to split their income for tax purposes allowing them to pay less tax.
He says it should be limited to married couples only because it takes a man and a woman to raise children.
Gordon Copeland says the tax splitting needs to have material evidence and that's best done via a marriage certificate.

Weaving real life with invented scenes, the play features five characters: Charles, Diana, Camilla, the Queen and James, a fictional butler to the prince.
Beginning three decades ago, when Charles first met Camilla, it is part love story, part bedroom farce, part sociological study of the British aristocracy.
Probably wont go to the West End or Broadway methinks.

3D?

The royals have turned down the idea of filming the royal wedding in 3D saying that it could be a distraction form the main event. Rupurt Murdoch has just launched a 3D channel on sky and it had been hoped to be a big selling point.
The technical demands of additional cameras within the small space available in Westminster Abbey and the limited audience who would be able to watch in 3D are thought to be behind the decision.
Personally, Imagine Camilla im 3D....frightening!!!

A revolution?

So after Hone Harawira has been suspended from the Maori Party, his nephew has called for Maori to uprise against the government. So New Zealand could be the next Egypt.I think not. Why is reverse racism so rife in New Zealand. We bend over backwards to give the Maori's back their land and their fishing rights. What next? Im not racist and have many maori friends but sometimes some of these people just go too far. YUCK!!!

I recently had a meal at a not so reputable restaurant. Okay it was Denny's so you are saying you get what you get. But i am not usually disappointed at my usual low budget fare. However on this particular occasion I decided i would try out their new addition to the menu ,Bangers and Mash. Now one would ask how could you get it so wrong. Firstly the powdered Potatoes (shock Horror) were cold and very gritty. The Sausages were not cooked very well. The peas were still half raw and the onion was completely raw. Apart fro mthe fact I waited an extra five to ten minutes for my meal than those assembled at my table, how could they get i so wrong. I however left a message for the wait staff on my plate. Creative i thought.

PS the gravy was nice!

When, thirty years ago, the Queen Mother asked me to wait and not tell this story during her lifetime, because the memory of these events was still too painful, I realized the depths of the emotions involved. A review

Just got home from seeing Burlesque. Cher rocks my world. That woman is stunning and her on screen rapour with Stanley Tucci is fabulous. They must do more stuff together. I even have to admit that I might even now be a bit of a Christina Fan. Although at one point in the movie I thought I was watching a music video with a bit of dialogue, and there was one paticlurly cheesy moment when Cher sang her second song. Alan Cummings steals his every scene and they ae few and far between. But for me Cam Gigandet is hot hot hot! More of him please! On the whole not an Oscar Contender but good fun entertainment.Now where do i start me up a Burlesque troupe.

Just read that Ricky Martin will be playing Che in the revival of Evita to open on Broadway in April 2012. Didnt realise he'd played broadway before in no less than Les Mis as Marius. Although not entirely a Ricky fan I would be  intrigued to see him play Che. After my tribute to Evita at last years Queen of the Whole Universe I wonder if Ricky would like me to play his Evita?

Comeback time

So they brought back Beverly Hills 90210 and Melrose Place now I hear they are bringing back Dallas. It will focus on the Offspring of JR and Bobby and word is Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray have signed on to reprise their roles. Larry Hagman is still to sign the dotted line.I loved this programme apart from the season that was all a dream.
I say bring back Dynasty... My fav from that era!

Sag Awards fashion dissected

Okay I was majorly dissapointed with the fashion at the Sag awards. Firstly , the usually glam Ea Longoria looked terrible in that white dress. The draping round the hips made her look shorter than she is and the plunging neckline looked like the designer had shoved a towel around her shoulders.
Nicole Kidmans outfit was truly hidious, no style at all ..and didnt she have such class when she waas married to Tom Cruise. Interestingly Katie Holmes style improved once she was married too...maybe the gay rumours are true...just saying.
Diana Agrons eyemakeup was far too heavy. She is suck a beauty she doesnt need all that black shit round her eyes.
And January Jones looked pretty but ordinary...not the screen goddess she looked at the globes last week.
have to say I liked Helena Bonham Carters outfit...she doesnt take herself too seriously which is so refreshing.
But my pick for best dressed..Kim Khardasian. The right amount of glam. gorgeous colour...but I have one question..WTF was she doing there???

Another set of awards

Good casting

Aretha Franklin is trying to get Halle Berry to play her on the big screen. Unfortunately so far Halle has politely declined touting that she cabt hold a tune. Not sure Aretha's life is quite in the same league as Ray Charles or Johnny Cash. Perhaps the sceenplay doesnt point toward a Oscar Nomination. Halle Berry is certainly beautiful but is she that good an actress. Some of her past choices have been somewhat dubious, even if she did luck out with Monster Ball.

So Elton john loves the smell of nappies. Will good for him but frankly information I didn't need to know. Remebering back to when I used to babysit my nieces and literally had to use a peg on my nose to change their nappies i think Elton is seriously deluded.

Not to be tolerated

Last night I watched a piece about gay hate crime against two lesbian women here in New Zealand. I guess one cannot expect everyone to be accepting of differing lifestyles but really is it necessary to terrorise peple like this. I hope police are actually taking this very seriously and providing proper investigation into both the vandalism of the women's property. the alleged arson of their business and providing adequate protection. We do not need this situation to skyrocket into anything else. This type of victimisation cannot be tolerated. Hate crimes against any minority should be a thing of the past but I doubt that will ever happen as long as there are right wing extremists.

Friendship

I have just spent some time without my best friends around and suddenly realised what having them around means to me. The saying Absence makes the heart grow fonder is true but I'd like to put it out there that we dont appreciate those closest to us enough. Lets let those we care about know how much they mean to us. Yes we can get frustrated with family and friends at times but in the end they are what makes life good. So let those people who you love know today. Just make that random phone call or text and let someone know you are thinking about them.

My life line is back

A year ago if you said to me you couldnt do without your laptop for two days i would have said dont be stupid. The Tv Evangelist Benny Hinn is going to visit Zsa Zsa in hospital tonight to lead prayers and doing a laying on of hands prior to her amputation operation. McDonald's is being accused of homophobia after it blocked gay websites from its new free Wi-Fi service at its restaurants.
People trying to access the lifestyle website GayNZ.com discovered they could not find the site, among others, and the website challenged the fast-food giant -- which offers free WiFi access in 132 of its restaurants nationwide -- to review its access policy.
"McDonald's must by now be able to find a more sophisticated way of judging the suitability of actual content for your restaurants rather than just blocking out wholesale an entire site which provides much valuable and family-friendly lifestyle information and service."
There appeared to be no consistency in McDonald's policy, GayNZ.com said.
A NZ Aids Foundation site was not blocked but Family Planning, Rainbow Youth, Agender and others were.
However, McDonald's said it was a family restaurant chain, and as part of offering the Wi-Fi service, its policy was that content must be of a family friendly nature, or suitable for a child to view.
"Because of this, access to a number of websites is blocked, including access to GayNZ.com, gambling, tobacco and adult mature content websites," a McDonald's spokeswoman said.
"You will also appreciate that there are inevitably teething problems with the introduction of a new service and getting our filtering process right is one such issue.
McDonald's said it was happy to review websites on a case by case basis, if customers believe that sites have been unjustifiably blocked.
However, all links and advertisements must also be acceptable.

News from hollywood is that Selma Hayek is in development mode of a minseries based on Wicked.
Sources confirm that the actress-producer is teaming with ABC to develop an eight-hour miniseries adaptation of Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, the Gregory Maguire bestseller that spawned the Broadway phenom. The insider stresses that it would be based on the novel and not the musical. As a result, this Wicked would be less of a prequel and more of a parallel story to The Wizard of Oz. (Universal, as you may know, is currently developing a Wicked film, and that would be based on the musical.)

The History channel has decided NOT to air a miniseries about the Kennedys. Or should I say another one. Well I probably wouldnt have watched it anyway. Greg Kinnear(who I must admit I quite like as an actor) as Jack Kennedy and that extreme talent Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy....good grief, thats got to be the miscasting of the decade(Who will they get to play Marilyn?....Kendra Wikinson?). Cant she just be content with being Mrs Tom Cruise or does she really think she can act. She might be able to but not as Jackie Kennedy.

Congratulations to Crown Prince Frederick and Princess Mary of Denmark on the birth of twins, one boy one girl. Thank goodness they are not first born. Rumour has it NZQA results are out this week. Ah i remember waiting for School C and UE results back in the good old days. What a dissapointment I must have been to my parents when i got 15% in School C Art. Hey but I passed History after being told by the teacher that girls didnt get books at boys High and not being given any text books for the whole year. Sure showed that wanker!!! If only I had grown balls then I might have won lots of money in a lawsuit.

Really?

Well after a 12 hour day dealing with a huge wedding I came home to find my flatmates watching Sex and the City 2. Oh dear, what can I say. It has to be one of the worst movies I have ever watched. Full of cliche one lines with the most improbable story line(hold on was there a storyline) The only good thing about it was the numous costume changes. Fabulous clothes made up for a complete lack of anything else worth watching. Even the men in this one were pretty ho hum so my recommendation is if you want a mindless evening with fabulous clothing watch it. If your after a good movie keep trolling the DVD store.

Bad news Boys and girls... David Tennant the tenth Dr Who is to marry. He is engaged to the Fifth Doctor Peter Davisons daughter Georgia Moffatt. They plan to wed on New Years Day 2012. Georgia appeared in Dor Who as the Doctors Daughter. Just a bit incestuous but not really! Seems Mr Tennant has a penchant for falling for ladies on set having previously being involved with an assistant director, aBBC wales staff member and another actress. All i can say is bugger....He was my favourite doctor!!!

A tragic Family

Prince Alireza, youngest son of the late Shah of Iran has been found dead in his boston apartment, apparently the results of suicide. This is the second child of the former Shah and Empress Farah Diba to die under tragic circumstances. Princess Leila the youngest Child died several years ago after a drug overdose. RIP

Jill Haworth the actress has died. Now alot of you will say who. When you think of Cabaret you think automatically of Liza Minelli. However, Jill Haworth originated the role on broadway in 1966, thats her on the left. She first appeared in movies at the age of 15 in the classic movie Exodus. The rest of her career was particularly unmemorable but thought her death was of note.

X Factor has the X Factor

The American version of X Factor has signed a sponsorship deal said to be worth between 50 and 100 million dollars. Simon Cowell sure has some pulling power. It was a battle royal between Pepsi nad Coca Cola but Pepsi won out in the end. Now if I can only get a sponsorship deal for my blog. Any takers...anyone...no seriously anyone. im not greedy. 50 thousand...500,...50 dollars...50 cents....anyone??? No...oh well it was worth a try.

Outrage is right

Just watched the movie Outrage a documentary about closeted gay politicians in the States. Now I'm not a political animal but boy do they have issues in Washington. The gay hate crimes are shocking, but the politicians who vote against reform that would stop bigotry against homosexuals  and who are closeted gays themselves is apalling. You all get caught out in the end boys and girls,what goes around comes around.
Interestingly I can find no references to any lawsuits brought about by this movie which one would think would be a logical course of action if these politicians thought they were being slandered.
I enjoyed the movie, it was informative although just a little bit potically biased.
There is no justufication for hypocricy.

Very Sad

News just out from Hollywood, dahlink Zsa Zsa Gabor has been taken to hospital to have half her leg amputated. Apparently a blood clot in her leg has spread too much. She was advised to have it removed prior to christmaas but she refused saying she wanted to have what could be her last christmas at home. A stunningly beautiful actress in the good old days of hollywood she was more famous for her marraiges than her acting ability. She is 93 turning 94 on Feb 6th. Her last movie appearance was the Very Brady Sequel. the last sister of the Gabor Dynasty her sister Eva was famous for playing Lisa in Green Acres.
As a child I had delusions I was her illegitimate son....clue one that I was gay!!!!

Slowly taking over the World

Not only does she have her own show, own production company, radio station, magazine now Oprah has her own Network.Fantastic news. Hope we can get it in New Zealand. Whats next , her own state?
Have to say with a lineup that includes advise shows, cooking programmes, classic movies and show like 'The Sound of Music Cast reunion' this could be very watchable television.

Broadway records

I read somewhere this morning that The Lion King had just overtaken Beauty and the Beast to become Broadways 7th longest running show. This inspired me to have a look at what the longest running shows are and a couple surprised me.

Number one is Phantom of the Opera beating Cats by over 2000 performances Number three is Les Mis and then A Chorus line and then Number 5 surprised me. It was Oh Calcutta.a revival that ran from 1976 to 1989, nearly thirteen years.

then comes Chicago, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Rent and Miss Saigon rounds out the top ten.

Only three of the productions are still performing and they are Phantom, Lion King and Chicago.

Mamma mia comes in at 11th and is slowly closing in on the tenth spot being only 305 performances behind Miss Saigon.

I know for some this is probably totally useless information but hey Im a theatre Geek and found it very interesting.

2011 a time to be true to ourselves!

Honesty is the best policy so the saying goes. But how many of us are actually totally honest?
How many of us act the way we think people expect us to act? I have woken up this morning feeling angry about life because i cant be totally honest, having to hide my true feelings about certain situations in life. I thought I had come out of the closet but it seems that it is necessary to keep some things in check. Is our social conditioning such that we have to hide behind a facade. This can only lead to pent up angst and ultimately hurt. It hurts those around us and at the end of the day we hurt ourselves the most.
So as much as we can, lets be true to ourselves and honest about the things that matter in life. Life is too short for us not to be!!!

Thousands of iPhone users got a rude awakening for the New Year, a late one, thanks to failed alarms on their phones.
The glitch prevented the alarm from going off on many people's iPhone 4, or those who have updated software on prior models.
Apple Inc. (AAPL) said the glitch, which had to do with the phone's clocks, will be resolved soon, according to The Telegraph.
All alarms should be working properly by Jan. 3, an Apple spokeswoman told UPI. Calls to Apple for further comment were not answered.
Two MarketWatch tests on Sunday of alarms on iPhone 4 devices failed to go off.
Thousands of people were late for work, airline flights and trains, the Daily Mail reported.
The iPhone's alarm system has shown to have problems in the past, including not recognizing daylight savings time, making the alarm go off at the wrong time, according to media reports.
