Officials from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health said they suspect an outbreak of legionellosis, or Pontiac fever, following the Feb. 3 fundraiser at Hugh Hefner's Holmby Hills, Calif., home. The event was held in conjunction with the annual DOMAINfest Global conference at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica.
Those who have gotten sick are experiencing "symptoms mostly consisting of fever, chills, general discomfort (malaise) and some cough," according to the public health department.
Officials added that they do not believe the outbreak has spread beyond those involved with the event.
Legionellosis is a milder form of Legionnaires' disease; it's caused by bacteria that grow in warm water, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
The public health department was first notified Friday of a "suspected respiratory infection outbreak" among those involved with the confab.
"I'd like to know what took away a week of my life," attendee David Castello, who got sick after the event, told the Times . "They just need to find out where and when it started. Now it's like a big mystery; everyone wants to know."
Reps for Playboy and the Fairmont did not return the Times' requests for comment Monday.

More wedding details revealed

Todays big announcement is who will be supporting William and Kate.

The obvious one is Harry will be best man and Kates Sister Pippa will be Maid of Honour.

Seven-year-old Lady Louise Windsor is one of the lucky four, and it will be a rare public appearance for the Queens youngest granddaughter and daughter of PrinceEdward and Sophie.

Joining Lady Louise will be Grace Van Custems, the daughter of the Van Custems who are close family friends from Norfolk and have known the Prince since childhood.

Third bridesmaid is Camilla's granddaughter Eliza Lopes, the daughter of Harry and Laura Lopes.
Viscount Linley's eight-year-old daughter Margarita, the second cousin of the Prince, will also feature as a bridesmaid.

There will be two page boys, Billy Lowther-Pinkerton and Tom Pettifer.

Ten-year-old Billy is the son of Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, who has been secretary to Prince William since 2005 and a very close friend.

Eight-year-old Tom is the Prince's godson and son of Tiggy Pettifer, née Legge-Bourke who was personal assistant to the Prince of Wales during the Nineties and also nanny to William.

Worst Grammy outfit

I am sorry there are so many to choose from.  Nicky Minaj looked pretty rediculous but the owrst for me was darling Miley. She was dressed like a whore! Harsh I know but take a look. Thanks to a good friend this gave me a few laughs...maybe this is why there are no valentine wishes coming my way.

IF MY BODY WAS A CAR... If my body was a car, this is the time I would be thinking about trading it in for a newer model. I've got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and my paint job is getting a little dull ... But that's not the worst of it. My headlights are out of focus and it's especially hard to see things up close My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip and slide and skid and bump into things even in the best of weather. My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins. It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed. My fuel rate burns inefficiently. But here's the worst of it -- Almost every time I sneeze, cough or sputter, either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires.

tonight's tribute to the 2011 Person of the Year - Barbra Streisand.

All this week, some of the most talented and awesome musicians, actors and singers have been coming and going to the convention center in downtown Los Angeles, right next door to the Staples Center where the Grammys will be on Sunday evening.

Streisand is scheduled to have a half hour at the end of the show. The event has been totally sold out and is one of the hottest tickets in town with the list of attendees reading like a "Who's Who" of the music industry. At a sit down dinner, there's a silent auction, a live auction and special items that the artists performing have been signing all week, including instruments, microphones, recordings and amazing memorabilia from the collective careers of all those in the building tonight.

Dr Zhivago opening night affected.

The opening of Dr Zhivago in Sydney on Friday night didnt quite happen how it was supposed to.

Apparently an injured Anthony Warlow was unable to go on and the understudy was not rehearsaed enough so instead the opening night audience got a 30 minute highlights show. However what could have been an ugly scene was not as the audience were placated by the shows producer and ANthony Warlow himself.

A commentator from Sydney sugests this is a good way to preview shows. You come along see the preview and then decide whether you wantr to see the full thing or get your money back. Could catch on on broaqdway. However said commentator said show is not that good...in fact some parts are terible. ANd that just from thirty minutes of highlights.

Guess I wont be rushing across to Sydney any time soon.

another legend is ill

According to reports Elizabeth Taylor has had another health scare.

The legendary actress, 78, was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles earlier this week for symptoms caused by congestive heart failure, described as "an ongoing condition," according to a statement from her reps.

"This issue is being addressed," the statement says. "She is currently being kept in the hospital for monitoring."

Taylor underwent heart surgery in October 2009 and has a long history of medical problems.

"Her family and close friends are appreciative of the warm support and interest of her loyal fans," the statement says, "but have asked that people respect her privacy and allow her medical team the time and space to focus on restoring her back to health."

Tihs is after releasing a statement that rumours were incorrect that she was unwell.

Another remake on the cards is Logans Run the sci fi adventure where people must die when they turn thirty. And starring will be Ryan Gosling. Cool. I still remember the original and it was fun. And Ryan Gosling is one of my fav actors.

Tom Cruise  is bringing the ’80s back, with or without a Top Gun sequel. The actor is closing a deal to star as womanizing rocker Stacee Jaxx in a big-screen adaptation of the Tony-nominated Broadway musical Rock of Ages, his rep confirms. In the stage show, the character sings Bon Jovi“Wanted Dead or Alive” and is a part of other numbers including “I Wanna Know what Love is.” He also receives a lap danc, and takes more than one punch. News of Cruise being courted for the film was first reported in October.

They have just cast a Bosley and if you remember the original seen to be sexing it up a bit. Here he is Ramon Rodrigues, MMM a vast improvement on David Doyle in the looks department but can he act. Actually not a priority, after all it is Charlies Angels...anyone remmeber Cheryl Teigs?

Lastest Meryl Streep

Interesting casting. Meryl Streep is playing Margaret Thatcher in a biopic. Directed by Phylida Law who directed Mamma Mia and costarring Jim  Broadbent its certainly a prety good cast. But apparently the english are not happy. They would prefer that an english actress such as Judi Dench or Helen Mirren played the role. Come on people its Meryl! Above is the pic of Meryl as Maggie.

A former MP wants the Government's income splitting tax credits legislation restricted to heterosexual married couples only.
Kiwi Party spokesman Gordon Copeland's had his say on legislation currently before select committee hearings that would allow couples to split their income for tax purposes allowing them to pay less tax.
He says it should be limited to married couples only because it takes a man and a woman to raise children.
Gordon Copeland says the tax splitting needs to have material evidence and that's best done via a marriage certificate.

The royal box looks likely to be empty for the premiere of a comic play promising an incendiary take on the prince’s muddled private life, dramatising the love triangle between Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles and Diana, Princess of Wales.
Lady Camilla, or The Prince’s Choice depicts royal chaos, with a fraught Queen struggling helplessly to contain the mess unleashed by Charles’s disintegrating marriage. By an extraordinary coincidence, the opening night of the cheeky play has fallen on a day Charles was in town.
Weaving real life with invented scenes, the play features five characters: Charles, Diana, Camilla, the Queen and James, a fictional butler to the prince.
Beginning three decades ago, when Charles first met Camilla, it is part love story, part bedroom farce, part sociological study of the British aristocracy.
Probably wont go to the West End or Broadway methinks.

3D?

The royals have turned down the idea of filming the royal wedding in 3D saying that it could be a distraction form the main event. Rupurt Murdoch has just launched a 3D channel on sky and it had been hoped to be a big selling point.
The technical demands of additional cameras within the small space available in Westminster Abbey and the limited audience who would be able to watch in 3D are thought to be behind the decision.
Personally, Imagine Camilla im 3D....frightening!!!

It has been announced that Christie Brinkley has been cast on Broadway in a production of Chicago. She is going to play Roxie Hart for 11 weeks starting April. Heres hoping she got some musicality from her former husband.

Further to my blog of a couple of weeks ago ago about the return of Dallas where i suggested bringing back Dynasty well look at what has just been released on the market. Alexis and Krystal Dolls. Is this a sign? I hope so. Nothing beats the all out brawls these two had. I still have one of the last episodes on video which believe it or not was an inspirational source for a friends wedding.

A revolution?

So after Hone Harawira has been suspended from the Maori Party, his nephew has called for Maori to uprise against the government. So New Zealand could be the next Egypt.I think not. Why is reverse racism so rife in New Zealand. We bend over backwards to give the Maori's back their land and their fishing rights. What next? Im not racist and have many maori friends but sometimes some of these people just go too far. Lets try and live in Harmony observing the laws of the land that WE ALL have put in place by observing our democratic right to vote for the people WE Believe will run our country properly.. There cannot be one law for you and one for me, thats not how a democracy works. People like Hone Harawira and his cohorts give New Zealanders at large a bad name. Perhaps we shouldnt give them the air time they so crave. The Prime Minister said this morning that the protesters at the weekends Waitangi Celebrations disappeared once the cameras were turned off. That speaks volumes doesnt it!!!

Scientific study has ascertained that the majority of Parrots are left handed. Wow. I really needed to know that.
Ultimately, they found that roughly 47 percent were left handed, 33 percent right handed, and the remainder ambidextrous.

YUCK!!!

I recently had a meal at a not so reputable restaurant. Okay it was Denny's so you are saying you get what you get. But i am not usually disappointed at my usual low budget fare. However on this particular occasion I decided i would try out their new addition to the menu ,Bangers and Mash. Now one would ask how could you get it so wrong. Firstly the powdered Potatoes (shock Horror) were cold and very gritty. The Sausages were not cooked very well. The peas were still half raw and the onion was completely raw. Apart fro mthe fact I waited an extra five to ten minutes for my meal than those assembled at my table, how could they get i so wrong. I however left a message for the wait staff on my plate. Creative i thought.

PS the gravy was nice!

The movie tells the story of her Majesty's father, King George VI (Colin Firth), struggling to overcome a stutter.
"On behalf of the director Tom Hooper; the producers, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Gareth Unwin; Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Helena Bonham Carter and our entire ensemble cast: we are deeply honored and humbled by Her Majesty's appreciation of the film," Harvey Weinstein said in a statement Friday. "It was a labor of love for all of us and this is high praise, indeed."
Added screenwriter David Seidler, "To learn Her Majesty has seen the film, and was moved, in turn moves and humbles me greatly. When, thirty years ago, the Queen Mother asked me to wait and not tell this story during her lifetime, because the memory of these events was still too painful, I realized the depths of the emotions involved. Now this story has been written and filmed with a great deal of love, admiration, and respect for Her Majesty's father. That Her Majesty has responded favorably to this, is wonderfully gratifying."
"The King's Speech" has been nominated for 12 Academy Awards.

A review

Just got home from seeing Burlesque. Cher rocks my world. That woman is stunning and her on screen rapour with Stanley Tucci is fabulous. They must do more stuff together. I even have to admit that I might even now be a bit of a Christina Fan. Although at one point in the movie I thought I was watching a music video with a bit of dialogue, and there was one paticlurly cheesy moment when Cher sang her second song. Alan Cummings steals his every scene and they ae few and far between. But for me Cam Gigandet is hot hot hot! More of him please! On the whole not an Oscar Contender but good fun entertainment.Now where do i start me up a Burlesque troupe.

It has been revealed (no pun intended) that Levi Johnston;s sister is about to pose nude for Playboy, following her brothers lead. He posed nude for Playgirl in  late 2009. Now some would ask who the F#$% is Levi Johnston. He is the father of Bristol Palins child. And most of us say who F$%# cares. Cashing in on their 15 minutes of fame methinks. A theory has been released that the Mona Lisa is actually a man.

Several Di Vinci works, including "St. John the Baptist" and a lesser-known drawing called "Angel Incarnate," were based on Salai, a favourite model of the artist. These paintings show a slender, effeminate young man with long auburn curls.

Apparently similarities with the "Mona Lisa's" nose and mouth are striking.

The apprentice Gian Giacomo Caprotti, known as Salai, worked with Leonardo for more than two decades starting in 1490. Their relationship  is described as "ambiguous," and most art historians agree Salai was  one of his lovers.

Broadway here I come... I wish

Just read that Ricky Martin will be playing Che in the revival of Evita to open on Broadway in April 2012. Didnt realise he'd played broadway before in no less than Les Mis as Marius. Although not entirely a Ricky fan I would be  intrigued to see him play Che. After my tribute to Evita at last years Queen of the Whole Universe I wonder if Ricky would like me to play his Evita?
